Spring finally made its presence known this week in England, with a couple of beautiful days where you genuinely wouldn’t rather be anywhere else. After a long, grey Winter, suddenly the world felt alive again; birdsong divided the air, flowers emerged among the hedge bottoms, and buzzing insects started getting busy.
I also saw my first butterfly of the year, an Admiral perhaps, though I’m no expert. She sat on the path before me warming her wings, gently wafting like a lady of the Bayou.
